1.What does winning a Cardiff Business Award mean to your business?

2020 was without a doubt the most challenging year we have had in business. To be recognised as the financial & professional services business of the year was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the, a highlight that we felt acknowledged all the hard work put in by the team day in day out.

2. How do you strive to make a difference in the Cardiff Business market?

Recruitment is an essential part of any business, successful businesses are driven by its people. We are doing everything in our power to change the perception of recruitment. Hoop will continue to grow, continue to invest in homegrown talent in Cardiff and continue to work with more and more local Welsh businesses. We listen more than we talk and we aim to become the recruiter of choice in the Cardiff business market.

3.What are your goals for the next 12 months?

Grow, invest and develop our people!

We will increase our office footprint from 2400 SQFT to over 6000 SQFT, we will grow our staff team by at least 25%, open new offices, and focus on giving our team everything they need to create the change we want in the industry.

Our people being happy, engaged and challenged is key to us. Everything we do puts this at the forefront of any conversation on how we grow the business.

In addition to this, we will be expanding our offering in Nursing, Social Care, Social Work, Education, Accountancy & Finance and Human Resources with the sole aim to become the agency of choice in Wales for all our specialist areas.

Outside this we will continue our work with local charity given both time and resources to local charities in Wales. 

4.What is the biggest lesson you have learned in the past year as a company?

Our values work, we stuck to them and, as a business are stronger than ever. We put our people first, always.

We actually grew in 2020, why? We have the best team, we had the technology to work remotely and we immediately made a rigid support network to our team a priority.

Communication is vital, we pride ourselves on out internal communication strategy and more than ever during COVID this was needed. Everyone had different challenges, taking the time to listen, small tokens of kindness and generally being there for our team ensured that we came out of the other side stronger.

5. What one piece of advice would you give to any aspiring business owner?

Plan, work hard and expect change, change is the one consistent, learn quickly to make it your friend!

Finally, your people are your business. Treat every team member as an individual and you will get the best from them, listen more than you talk and always BE KIND!

6. What did you think of the virtual awards ceremony?

Absolutely seamless. It was the first virtual awards ceremony that I have attended, it was impressive from beginning to end.

Given the obvious challenges of hosting a virtual event I was blown away by how slick the process was, well done to all involved!
