We recently caught up with Daniel Simmons, founder of Populate Social, who were the winners of the Digital Business of the Year award!
- Why did you enter the Cardiff Business Awards?
“We wanted to celebrate the success that Populate has been through in the last few years. The awards provide us with an opportunity to take a moment to reflect on all of the great things that have happened within the business. We also wanted to use it as a platform to showcase the business to others, hopefully inspiring through our story.”
- How did you find the interview process?
“The interview process was well managed and a pleasant experience. It was great to meet some of the most influential business people from Cardiff.”
- What did winning mean for you or your business?
“Winning was great for our team, it marked an opportunity to celebrate all of the hard work that they have put in. It was great to be given an opportunity to showcase our business to other business leaders across Cardiff during the ceremony.”
- What’s been a challenge for you or your business during the last year and how have you overcome it?
“12 months ago we were acquired by The MISSION Group PLC. The last 12 months have been a period of transition and marked a huge opportunity for us to scale the business further. Naturally, any change takes time and can bring its own challenges. We have worked diligently to integrate our business within the PLC whilst also ensuring we have not lost our challenger attitude.”
- What’s been a highlight for you or your business over the last year and why?
“Working with some of the biggest brands in the world, like The North Face and Betway.”
- What are the goals for 2024?
“To continue to grow the business and cementing our place as one of the leading social media marketing agencies in the UK.”
- What’s the best thing about running a business in Cardiff?
“Cardiff is a small capital city and as a result it offers unique access into a close-knit community. This provides huge opportunities for the business and also supports your growth as individuals and collectively.”
